Abstract

In order to enhance food grain production there has been over exploitation of natural resources and due to which land, water and soil have been subjected to great stress resulting in soil degradation, soil erosion, salinity and alkalinity, sifting cultivation and nutrient losses. Hence, the concept of sustainability has emerged as an alternative for long term sustainable production and economic viability of Indian agriculture. In order to assess a systematic study was undertaken to assess the constraints in acquiring knowledge on sustainable agricultural practices. The study was conducted in Kanpur Nagar district with 50 Agriculture Officers. 90 per cent agriculture officers perceived scarcity of good training institution in the state to train the officials as the most serious constraint and was ranked first. 84 per cent of them felt that non- availability of advance training tools was the second major constraint in acquiring knowledge on sustainable agriculture production in the state. It can be concluded that there is a need to strengthen the existing training institutions with modern training tools and other infrastructures. The higher officials should have a very positive attitude while sending the participants for training. The state govt. should establish new training institutions so that the agriculture officers should update their knowledge on sustainable agriculture at a regular interval so that in turn farmers get recent information for growing their crops.

Abstract

The present study was conducted on randomly selected 100 pre-school children of Pansalwa village of Beldaur block of Khagaria district of Bihar. Gomez as well as Waterlow's classification and MUAC value were used as tools to assess per cent prevalence of malnutrition among children. An equal per cent (33%) of children had been assessed as 'normal' according to Gomez as well as Waterlow's classification. A major per cent (55%) of children was categorized under 'Mild Malnutrition' grade, whereas, 12 per cent children were moderately malnourished according to Gomez classification. According to Waterlow's classification 77 per cent children were assessed as stunted. MUAC value put on records 37 per children under normal, 56 per cent under moderate and 7 per cent under severe malnutrition category.

Abstract

A comparative study on working pattern of respondents viz., Government officials (75) and elected representatives (75) and elected representatives were undertaken and they were interviewed with the help of schedule. A largest section of Government officials (60%) were having working pattern score between 15-37 followed by 21.33 per cent respondents with scored < 37. In case of elected representatives, 69.4 per cent respondent were having score between 18-37 and 13.3 per cent respondents were having score more than 37 for their working pattern. A positive correlation was obtained for both the groups of respondents in case of association between their working pattern and selected independent variables like occupation, family size and social participation.

Abstract

The study aimed in investigating area and extent of development of respondents in Panchayati Raj system. Out of a total of 150 respondents 75 elected representatives and 75 government officials from three tier structure of Panchayat bodies were interviewed with the help of structured interview schedule. Majority of the Government officials (56%) where having medium level rank (41-77) of area and extent of development, a companied by 22.66 per cent with high level (rank 77) and 21.33 per cent with low level (rank 41). However, 70.66 per cent of elected representatives having rank between 46-74, acompanied by 14.6 per cent respondents with high ranking more than 74 revealed that Government officials have positive correlation with their education, cast and farm power. Whereas elected representative had negative correlation with their age and positive correlation with caste and occupation. There was difference between two categories with regard to area and extent of development due to variation in their education and occupation.

Abstract

Background of study: - 75% Nursing Students are Anemic in Govt. College of Nursing, Jagdalpur, C.G. Anemia is route cause of poor reproductive health of women. Objectives of the study are 1. Assess the hb% among nursing students of experimental and control group before and after the intervention. 2. To assess the effectiveness of poshan modakam laddu. Methodology: Research Approach: Quantitative evaluator research approach, Research Design:-true experimental design- pretest -posttest only, Population: b.sc. Nursing students, Setting- govt. college of nursing, jagdalpur Sample: -anemic students HB% less than 11 %gm), Sampling Technique: probability purposive simple random sampling, Sample Size: 80 anemic students of G.C.O.N., Jagdalpur. Tool: in vitro bio physiological method (evaluation of HB% through the in vitro bio physiological method, Variables: dependent variables-HB% level, independent variables: - modakam laddu, (each laddu 45 gm , 1 bd, 30 days, ingrediance are-kala til, gegurry, soyabean, wheat, ground nut, flex, coconut oil, vidhari kand, and dry ginger) Data Analysis: descriptive and inferential statistics were calculated (percentage, frequency, "t" test and chi square). Result: the maximum level ranged age 20 to 22 years (46.25%), weight 46 to 50 kg (35%), dietary pattern non vegetarian (73.7%), and education b.sc. Nursing second year (32.5%) and regular menstrual cycle (77.7%). In experimental group, pre test and post test mean of hb% are 9.49 gm % and 13.58 gm%. In control group, pre test and post test mean of HB % are 10.31 and 10.02. Experimental group levels of anemia before intervention are normal 15% mild anemia 50%, moderate anemia 35% and severe anemia is 0%. After the intervention level of anemia normal is 65% mild anemia 30%, moderate anemia 5% and severe anemia is 0%. Control group level of anemia normal HB% is 15% mild anemia 50%, moderate anemia 35% and severe anemia is 0%. After one month without intervention level of anemia normal is 65% mild anemia 30%, moderate anemia 5% and severe anemia is 0%. At 0.05 level with DF (79) calculated "t" value is 19.8 and tabled value is 2.00, it is highly significant. Hence research hypothesis is accepted and null hypothesis is rejected. Conclusion: - administration of modokam laddu is highly effective to increase HB% and management of anemia.

Abstract

This study was carried out to investigate the usages and purpose of social networking sites especially Facebook and What's app among the post graduate students who are using smart phones, of Maharishi Dayanand University, Rohtak. In the context of today's electronic media, social networking sites have come to mean individuals, using the Internet and web application to communicate. The objectives of the study were to find out the usages purpose, spending hours, how many students have account on Facebook and on what's app, and what students think about the usefulness of the social media in education. The study adopted the survey research design which was conducted on a sample size of 80 post graduate students. The sample was selected via simple random sampling technique. With the help of questionnaire the data were collected. The respondents completed and returned the questionnaire. The response rate was 100%. Percentage analysis was used to analyse and interpret the data. The result of the study reveals that almost every (75/80 on Facebook) (79/80 On what's app) have account on social sites. Students spend most of the time using these sites. The purposes of using are collecting information and news, for passing the time, for finding friends, for chat, for gather the likes and comments, and for all the purposes above. Many students were agreed that facebook and what's app help in study. Less students did not agree with the statement. With many benefits social networking sites have dangers also. Awareness programme should be conducted by the university to teach the students negative aspects of facebook and what's app and as well as the positive sides also.

Abstract

Researches reveal that positive as well as negative association exists between media and mental health. We use media for education, entertainment and communication purpose. But when we use social media due to uncontrolled desire, stay online for long hours, we connect with other people through social media instead of social relation, we feel social, behavioural, emotional, intellectual discomfort but still we use social media, we call it internet addiction. And internet addiction is positively associated with depression. Cyber bulling, mean comments, cyber stalking, online teasing are the reasons behind this positive relationship of social media and depression. Mental illnesses are the common disease worldwide, in which depression is main. When an individual lost pleasure in daily routine activities, loss of appetite, loss of sleep, especially early in the morning a person wakes up, experience depressed mood, feeling hopeless, feeling worthlessness, feeling guilty himself/herself, poor concentration and thoughts of commit suicide are the symptoms of depression. In children symptoms are sadness, irritability, physical complaints (toothache, head ache, stomach ache) separation anxiety. There are many reasons leads to depression such as death of loved one, ending of a romantic relationship, job losing, poverty, obstacle in the path of goal and unfulfilled desires. Depression is the main cause of suicide in India as well as in the world. Suicide rates are high in younger generation. 7th April is World Health Day, we should serve our nation by helping the depressive people to overcome. Depression is not a stigma. Anybody can suffer from this mental disorder , don't feel shame to talk about your problems. Live this beautiful life with happiness, and find your happiness to help other, to erase someone's sadness with the slogan "Let's Talk".

Abstract

Media became integral part of our daily life. we consume media for the purpose of entertainment, education etc. Not only children but all age groups connected with media. Almost everyone has account on Facebook, What's app, E- mail, Instagram, Snap chat, etc. Since the early 19th century researches have been accumulating and suggest that exposure to media violence in television, cell phone, video game, internet, movies, serials, increase the risk of violent behaviour. In current review, literature and psychological studies critically assessed to know, why exposure to violent media effects viewer's behaviour negatively. James Potter explains, “Even we were to lock all of today's criminals, media are still helping to train another generation to believe that the violence is the only successful way to solve problems”. Behind crime there are many factors like poverty, racial inequality, parental neglect and abuse and aggression. Aggression is directly associated with consuming aggressive/violent media. So the media also play important role in criminal activities also. I examined many studies which focused on the relationship between the effect of violent media on aggressive behaviour. Previous findings indicate that there is a positive relationship between exposure of media violence and aggressive behaviour. Exposure of violent media work as instigation or model for real life violence. What is media violence? Most researcher define media violence as visual portrayals of acts of physical or nonphysical (verbally abuse someone, spreading harmful rumours) by one human and human like character against another. Reasons behind it are, 1st observational learning (we learn by observing others act & the consequences of that act or we can say immediate mimicry of specific behaviour) 2nd is that exposure to media violence can desensitize people to violence in the real world. And 3rd is arousal processes (Physiological, activation of fight & flight system that is sympathetic nervous system & psychological arousal is emotional activation). In 21st century mass media widely effect the daily lives. Radio, television, videos, cell phone, video game, computer networks playing important role in the children's and youth's life. If people specially children and youth continuously consume violent media they may become less sensitive to the pain and suffering of others, they may become fearful of the world around them, they may be more likely to behave in aggressive and harmful ways toward others. For avoiding the negative impacts of violent media seminar, conferences, workshop should be held to spread awareness. Explain consequences and teach the children as well as other age group conflict resolution (how to use word correctly, don't harm others).
